Who we are
So Social is operated by Elliott Dynasty LLC (Global Danielle), c/o Danielle Elliott, MBR, 30 N Gould St, Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States. We decide how your information is used. Contact: support@sosocialnetwork.com, or Help in the app.
So Social is for adults 18 and over. Children don't have accounts.
What we collect
- Account: your email, the name you type in, an account ID, sign-in records, and your date of birth to confirm you're 18+. If you use Google sign-in we receive your name and email from Google.
- Profile and plans: photo, city, interests, when you're free, plans you join or host, RSVPs, check-ins and attendance confirmations.
- Approximate location (optional): only if you tap "Use my location". We round it to two decimal places (roughly 1 km) and store that. During setup, those rounded coordinates are sent from your device to BigDataCloud to look up your city name; like any web request, this also reveals your IP address to them. We never track or share live or continuous GPS, and you can switch back to city-only at any time.
- What you post: memories, photos, comments, short notes on plans, Beeps and replies, and who you tag. Photo files have location data (EXIF) removed; full-size originals are visible only to you.
- Social connections: people you connect with, met IRL, block, or say you'd hang out with again, and your privacy and sharing settings.
- Family (optional): details from the adult who sets it up — household nickname, number of adults, area, travel radius, budget, interests, kind of day, social energy, usual free times and children's age bands. We don't collect children's names, photos or schools.
- Family values and access needs (optional): you can pick values (some, such as "Faith", may reveal beliefs) and access needs (such as "Step-free" or "Allergy aware", which may reveal health or disability information). You can only add them after ticking a separate, optional consent box; we record when you agreed. They are never shown to other families. Values are used to rank family matches only if you and the other household both also switch on "Use values to find closer matches". Access needs are kept on your household profile and are not currently used for matching. You can withdraw consent any time in Family → Privacy & matching; withdrawing deletes these answers and stops their use, and we keep a record that you withdrew.
- Contacts (optional): if you turn on Find People, the email addresses in your contacts (not names or phone numbers) are sent to us in batches and compared with existing So Social accounts in real time. We keep the resulting matches as part of your connections. You can switch this off and delete imported matches.
- Bookings and payments: bookings, refunds, membership status and receipts. Card payments are handled by Stripe and in-app memberships by Apple — we don't see or store full card numbers. From Apple we receive a signed record of the purchase and its status.
- Notifications: device push tokens (sent through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, including on iPhone), browser push subscriptions, and your email and Beep preferences.
- Activity and logs: in-app events such as plans created, bookings, arrivals and matches; technical logs from our hosting. We use these to run and improve the service.
- Support and safety: messages you send us, reports you make or that are made about you, moderation actions, and the status of any identity check.
Who sees it
Other members see your first name, photo and what you choose to share — never your email, phone, address or exact location. People only appear to each other in People Here after checking in at the same place. Partners (venues) see bookings and arrivals at their place, not your profile or when you're free, and get only grouped feedback. If you share a memory or plan link, people with that link can see what you shared.
Service providers process data for us: Lovable (app hosting, database, sign-in and file storage, built on Supabase and Cloudflare), Stripe (card payments), Apple (App Store purchases), Google (sign-in if you choose it, and push delivery through Firebase) BigDataCloud (city lookup from rounded coordinates during setup) and OpenAI, whose model is reached through Lovable's AI gateway, which receives a business's WORLD photo (with the venue name and type) only when a signed-in user ticks the consent box and taps "Suggest a description with AI" for that photo; otherwise no photo is sent and the description is written by hand. We keep a record of each request (time and consent wording) to limit misuse, but not the photo or the AI's answer. We ask for those requests not to be stored, but we can't promise zero retention by these providers. We may disclose information where the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.
We don't sell your information. So Social does include promoted content: partner venue listings, and creator posts marked as branded, gifted or paid. These are labelled and chosen by us and partners — they are not targeted by third-party ad networks. We found no third-party analytics or advertising trackers in the app.
Why we use it
- To provide So Social — matching and personalised suggestions, plans, bookings, check-ins, notifications (contract).
- To take payments and keep financial records (contract and legal obligation).
- To keep people safe, handle reports and prevent misuse (legitimate interests, and legal obligation where it applies).
- To improve the service using in-app activity (legitimate interests).
- Optional Family values and access needs (your explicit consent, withdrawable in Family settings).
- Optional location, contacts and push notifications (your consent, which you can withdraw in settings or on your device).
On your device
We store only what's needed to run the app on your device: your sign-in session and small settings (for example a kiosk device ID for partner staff, or which calendar events you've added). There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account (Me → Settings → Delete account), we remove or anonymise your name, photo, area and memories, remove your tags, push tokens, interests, contact matches and Beeps, end your connections and switch off discovery straight away, and close your sign-in. We keep booking, payment and refund records, and safety reports and moderation records, because we need them for accounting, disputes and safety. Deleted data may remain in our providers' backups until those backups are replaced; we have not yet confirmed those providers' backup periods.
International processing
Our operator is in the United States. Our main database is hosted in the US East (N. Virginia) region. Other parts of the service — such as content delivery, sign-in, file storage, payments, push notifications, city lookup and AI photo descriptions — are run by the providers listed above and may process data in the US and other countries. The legal safeguards that apply when UK or EU data is transferred abroad are still being confirmed and are not yet stated here.
Your choices and rights
You can change your profile, privacy settings, location, contacts and notifications in the app, and delete your account at any time. Depending on where you live (including the UK, EU and some US states), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your information, to object or restrict use, and to withdraw consent. Email support@sosocialnetwork.com. In the UK you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EU, to your local data protection authority.
